Poor Madi...

I started this post last Friday, but it has taken me until today to finish...

Miss Madi has a had a hard couple of days. I picked her up from daycare on Tuesday and they told me she had some bug bites on her legs and arms...no problem, but she woke up the next morning with a rash on her back. She had tiny red dots all over her back. I thought it might be some type of reaction to the bug bites. I called my sister, the doctor, and since Madi had no fever, was eating and playing well, it was probably nothing to worry about, but that we should just keep an eye on her. Well the rash spread all over her body, but still she was acting fine. Then Thursday hit us. She woke up Thursday morning and I thought we would have our normal day. On our way to day care she threw up and just was not acting like my normal happy girl. I was the only one at work that day, so I had to go, but Chad and I talked immediately after I got to work. We decided we needed to take her to the doctor. By the time we got her to the doctor that afternoon the rash was horrible, she had a temperature of 101.3 and was miserable. The doctor checked her out - ears, throat, lungs, everything was fine. So, then they thought that she might have a bladder infection, but to check for that they would have to use a catheter. The doctor walked out of the room and Chad and I both got teary. We didn't want her to go through any more pain, but we needed to find the problem. It took the doctor, a nurse and Chad and I to hold her down (she's one strong little girl) and they did the procedure and it was over in a few minutes (of course it seemed like forever to us). I actually think Madi took it better than Chad and I. Well they still aren't 100% sure that that is the problem. Her urine did have white blood cells in it, so they are sending it off for a culture and we should hear back by Sunday. They went ahead and gave us some medicine anyway, because it was better to start her now in case she had the infection. So, today she seems a little better. The rash is better, but she still has a temp. We are trying to get the Tylenol in her, but she's fighting us with both medicines.

Like I said I started this post on Friday, its now Monday and my poor girl is still hurting. The rash is gone, the fever is finally gone (we hope), but the medicine has been a battle. The doctor put her on Ceftin, so I picked that up on Thursday evening. We got a dose in that night, but not 5 seconds later, back that came with her dinner. We tried everything for the next few days to get her to take the medicine. We have gotten small amounts in over the past few days, but no wear close to what she is suppose to be taking. Some how last night we got a full dose in her, but again not 5 seconds later she threw it all up. The bottle of medicine has just been awful. The pharmacist told me they don't make a generic and that they couldn't flavor it, but this medicine has turned to concrete. No joke, Chad shook the bottle for 10 minutes last night until he was red in the face and the medicine barely came out. I could not get a drop out of it this morning. I called back to the Pharmacy and was told that Ceftin is one of the thicker medicines, but that of course it should come out of the bottle. When Chad got off work he took the bottle back to the Pharmacy. I should mention that I normally use Walmart's Pharmacy, but decided to use Martin's this time since I was shopping there anyway. Now, the same Pharmacist who told me they don't make a generic told Chad that not only do they make a generic that they can flavor, but that this medicine's "formula" had been changed recently and that they shouldn't be using that formula anymore because its like concrete. He told Chad they could order some and have it tomorrow evening. Chad said no that we needed it now because it was bad enough she hadn't had the medicine for the past couple of days. They agreed to go to another store and pick up the generic. I now have to go back to Martin's after work to pick up the right prescription.

So, if you are still reading this after all my ramblings we hope to get the medicine in Madi tonight and that she will start to feel better. And after all that I don't even have any pictures to share with you. I will get some new ones soon, but give you some of her cute baby pictures:

Wow. That's awful! Poor Madi!! It also makes it even harder for you and Chad; taking care of a well baby is a full time job, and a sick one is double!!! I really hope she feels better soon!!! Good luck with the medicine!

OMG - the medicine battle. Jax always throws his medicine back up! It is so frustrating because as a parent you know it will make them better and they're so sick and don't understand. The last time Jax got sick I was so upset, crying every time because it was such a battle to get him to take it just for it to come back up...

There's got to be a better way :( Well. I know Madi is feeling better now - poor thing. You and Chad are great parents so keep up the good work!
